RM17 bln to upgrade roads near Sabah towns

KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Government has allocated some RM17 billion to pave all roads within 30km radius of towns in Sabah by the year 2015. 

Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed said the huge allocation was in line with the Government's Vision and commitment to boost the State's infrastructure development.

"We are aware that there are still many roads which have not been upgraded or paved in Sabah and there are also places in the rural areas which have not roads all.

RM17b for Sabah roads

Pemaju digesa guna IBS elak pergantungan pekerja asing

MELAKA 26 Nov, - Semua pemaju projek di Negara ini termasuk kontraktor binaan digesa menggunakan Sistem Pembangunan Industri (IBS) dalam melaksanakan projek masing-masing bagi mengurangkan pergantungan terhadap pekerja asing.

Menterinya, Datuk Ir. Mohd Zain Mohamaed berkata, usaha itu selaras dengan komitmen kerjaan yang bakal menguatkuasakan penggunaan IBS dalam semua projek kerajaan kelak.

Sehingga November lalu ujarnya, Kementerian mengenal pasti 408 projek yang akan menggunakan IBS dengan kos sebanyak RM9.4 bilion.

Tambah RM 3.2 b projek trafik Zon Selatan

MELAKA- Kerajaan meluluskan peruntukan tambahan RM 3.2 bilion lagi, khusus bagi melaksanakan projek pembangunan kawasan jalan raya Zon Selatan membabitkan Negeri Sembilan, Melaka dan Johor bagi tempoh kajian separuh penggal Rancangan Malaysia Kesembilan (RMK-9)

Menteri Kerjaraya, Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed, berkata tambahan peruntukan diluluskan itu bagi kerja pembinaan sistem penyuraian trafik dalam Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah, Jalan Lingkaran Tengah Seremban di Negeri Sembilan dan menaik taraf Jalan Tangkak-Segamat di Johor.

Contractors get okay to raise costs

MALACCA: A total of 1,311 contractors involved in government projects have been allowed to vary their project costs following the recent increase in the cost of building materials.

Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed said his ministry had so far paid out RM44.2mil as part of the permitted variation of price for 270 projects with calculations being made for the remaining 1,041 projects.

He also said that the ministry had included another 15 construction materials to the current five in the variation of price.

RM3.2b for better southern roads

MALACCA: The road systems in Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Johor will be improved over the next two years with an allocation of RM3.2 billion. 

Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed said it included a RM220 million upgrading of Jalan Tangkak-Segamat and a RM85 million traffic dispersal system in Seremban known as Seremban Middle Ring Road.

In Malacca, he said, the ministry would embark on a study on a traffic dispersal system to ease traffic congestion from the Ayer Keroh toll plaza to the city centre.

Technicians to monitor federal roads remain in tip-top condition

KOTA KINABALU: The Road Transport Ministry will assign a technician in every district in Sabah to ensure all federal roads in the State are in tip-top condition.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Munit Kasmin said during a dinner function held for expedition participants comprising ministry personnel on Monday evening said that these technicians would be monitoring the works of the two concessionaires who have been awarded to maintain federal roads in Sabah.

"The step is to ensure our roads are always in good condition," he said in his speech.

Guna IBS kurangkan tenaga asing

BANDARAYA MELAKA- Semua pemaju projek di negara ini termasuk kontraktor binaan disarankan menggunakan Sistem Pembangunan Industri (IBS) untuk melaksanakan projek masing-masing.

Menteri Kerja Raya, Datuk Ir Mohd Zin Mohamed berkata, ia selaras dengan  komitmen kerajaan pada sama terdekat ini iaitu bakal menguatkuasakan penggunaan IBS dalam semua projek kerajaan kelak.
