PLUS ready to discuss toll rate review

KUALA LUMPUR: Highway Concessionaire PLUS Expressways Bhd is prepared to discuss with the government the plan to review concession agreements, managing director Noorizah Abd Hamid said yesterday.

She said PLUS had been providing all the information that the government requested.

"But we have not engaged with the government in any official discussion on this matter yet. We don't know what the review will be," she told reporters after a meeting with the company?s shareholders here.

Pembinaan Jambatan Kedua tetap diteruskan

KUALA LUMPUR: Kerajaan akan meneruskan pelaksanaan projek pembinaan jambatan Kedua Pulau Pinang dan pembangunan Wilayah Ekonomi Koridor Utara (NCER), kata Menteri Kewangan Kedua, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop.

Beliau turut menegaskan bahawa UEM Group menerusi konsortium yang turut dianggotai China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) kekal sebagai kontraktor utama projek pembinaan Jambatan Kedua Pulau Pinang itu.

Terowong Kajang RM25 juta

KUALA LUMPUR - Pembinaan terowong di Kajang Utama/Kajang Sentral bagi merentasi  Lebuh Raya Kajang Silk dianggarkan menelan belanja RM25 juta, persidangan Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed berkata, kementerian masih menunggu kelulusan peruntukan kerjaan bagi membiayai kos pembinaan terowong di Kajang Utama untuk merentasi Lebuh Raya Kajang Silk.

Cadang kerajaan beli syarikat konsesi tol

SHAH ALAM 28 Jun - MCA Selangor mencadangkan kerajaan mengambil alih 19 buah syarikat konsesi lebuh raya yang beroperasi di Lembah Klang dalam usaha mengurangkan bebanan rakyat ekoran kenaikan harga minyak.

Timbalan Pengerusi Perhubungan MCA Selangor, Datuk Tang See Hang berkata, langkah itu bukan sesuatu yang mustahil kerana kerajaan mempunyai kemampuan hasil keuntungan Petronas dan pengurangan subsidi minyak.

Hapus tol di Selangor

SHAH ALAM: MCA Selangor memohon kerajaan supaya mengurang atau menghapuskan bayaran tol di lebuh raya di Selangor bagi meringankan beban rakyat berikutan kenaikan harga minyak baru-baru ini.

Pengerusi MCA Selangor, Datuk Tang See Hang, berkata penghapusan atau pengurangan tol dapat dilaksanakan jika kerajaan membeli balik syarikat konsesi lebuh raya.

Grand Saga withdraws case

KUALA LUMPUR: Highway concessionaire Grand Saga Sdn Bhd has withdrawn its application for an injunction to stop the removal of barricades it built at the controversial Bandar Mahkota Cheras intersection.

However, the main suit against Bandar Mahkota Cheras Open Access Road Committee chairman Tan Boon Wah, Selangor Local Government, Research and Study Committee chairman Ronnie Liu and the Kajang Municipal Council - in which the plaintiff is seeking a permanent injunction as well as damages - is still pending.

Raise tolls, focus on rail services

BANGI: Stop building highways in the Klang Valley, increase tolls in the area but reduce them elsewhere and focus on improving the public transportation system.

According to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia public transport consultant Prof Dr Abd Rahim Md Nor, These are some of the ways to make people use public transport and reduce congestion on roads.

He said the government should also discourage people in the Klang Valley from driving by focusing on rail, monorail and a commuter services.
