Govt contractors to get more incentives

PUTRAJAYA: Contractors of ongoing government projects as well as new ones will be given two interim progress payments a month starting immediately. 

The government has also agreed to allow an extension of up to three months for projects under construction, subject to conditions.

Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop said it was hoped that with these incentives, government projects could be completed as planned.

Upgrade work completed between Kemuning and Hicom interchanges

KESAS Sdn Bhd has completed a road-widening project as a long-term solution to resolve the traffic congestion at the stretch between the Kemuning and Hicom interchanges in Shah Alam.

According to Kesas chief operating officer Imran Gulcharan Abdullah, the RM17mil project involves about 2km from the y-junction at Km30.1 to the Hicom interchange at Km32.9 (east bound) on the Kesas Highway.

Work began in April last year and was completed within 15 months. It was open to traffic on July 15 this year.

PUTRAJAYA: Kerajaan bersetuju memberi kemudahan khas berhubung pelaksanaan perubahan harga dalam kontrak kerja kepada kontraktor menerusi bayaran kemajuan interim dua kali sebulan dan membenarkan lanjutan tempoh siap sehingga tiga bulan bagi projek dalam pembinaan. 

Menteri Kewangan Kedua, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, berkata pembayaran dua kali sebulan itu bertujuan membantu aliran tunai kontraktor yang berdepan kenaikan harga bahan binaan secara mendadak. 

Help for contractors building govt projects

KUALA LUMPUR: Public project contractors will be paid according to price variations of building materials to help them cope with escalating cost of such supplies.

The Finance Ministry will issue a circular on this plan which will cover pricr Variations in steel and cement said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib  Tun Razak.

However, Najib said the Government would not provide guarantees that the contractors would be given full aid, saying that it was not appropriate to renegotiate prices of contracts that had already been signed.

Kontrak pembangunan dikaji sebagai inisiatif bantu kontraktor

KUALA LUMPUR - Kerajaan bersetuju mengkaji semula kontraktor-kontraktor pembangunan yang telah ditandatangani sebagai satu iniseatif untuk membantu kontraktor yang menghadapi beban kenaikan harga bahan binaan, kata Timbalan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak semalam.

"Kerajaan telah menetapkan bahawa kontrak-kontrak tertentu yang telah ditandatangani dengan syarikat pembinaan akan diberi variasi harga berdasarkan kepada kenaikan harga bahan binaan terutama sekali harga keluli dan simen.

RM8 juta naik taraf jalan Raya 1 Serdang

SERDANG - penduduk serdang bakal menikmati kemudahan asas ababila kerajaan memperuntukan kira-kira RM8 juta untuk menaikkan taraf Jalan Raya 1 di sini.

Bekas Ahlin Parlimen Serdang, Datuk Yap Pian Hon berkata, kerja menaik taraf berkenaan dimulakan berhampiran bulatan selepas balai bomba sejak bulan lalu.

Bagaimanapun, katanya, kerja menambah satu lagi lorong di laluan hadapan balai polis trafik terpaksa ditangguhkan sehingga sebuah balai yang berada di atas rizab jalan berkenaan dipindahkan.

Motorists can bypass congested Motorola interchange via Majlis Link

DESPITE its convenience, the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) is also congested at certain interchanges.

As one of the main highways in Petaling Jaya, it is used by motorists to get to nearby townships like Puchong and Kepong.

Along the stretch of LDP are a number of interchanges and the busiest interchange is the one joining the Federal Highway.

DPM: Contracts will be revised for rising prices

KUALA LUMPUR: Existing government contracts will be revised to take into account the rising cost of construction materials, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said. 

He said details on the revision would be contained in circulars to be issued by the Finance Ministry soon.

"This is another effort by the government to help contractors by reviewing the old prices quoted in the contracts.

JKR diminta ganti jambatan

SHAH ALAM 10 Julai - Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) hari ini meminta Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) segera menggantikan jambatan bersebelahan Taman Rashna di sini yang dikenal pasti antara punca berlakunya banjir kilat di beberapa kawasan di sini.

Berdasarkan pemantauan MBSA, jambatan yang berusia puluhan tahun itu dibina terlalu rendah hingga menyekat laluan air sungai dan seterusnya menyebabkan banjir kilat yang kerap berlaku di Kampung Rambutan, Padang Jawa dan Sungai Rasau.
