Jalan perlu dinaik taraf

KEMENTERIAN Kerjaraya ingin merujuk aduan menerusi SMS daripada ?Warga Felda Jengka 13? yang disiarkan akhbar ini, 26 Januari lalu.

Untuk makluman, pihak kementerian menjalankan siasatan di lokasi yang dimaksudkan.  Jalan berkenaan adalah Jalan Persekutuan dan didapati keadaan jalan itu perlu dinaik taraf.

Sehubungan itu, kementerian sudah memajukan laporan kepada pihak Unit Penyelarasan dan Penyelenggaraan Jalan, JKR Negeri Pahang untuk mengemukan anggaran kos bagi pembaikan jalan itu supaya dapat dilaksanakan dengan segera.
 

 

Plus to raise RM1bil

PETALING JAYA: Toll operator PLUS Expressways Bhd and its unit will raise about RM1bil this year by issuing Islamic papers to fund its expansion and re-finance loan.

The first trenched of its Sukuk papers for RM350mil was expected to be launched over the next three months and used mainly to re-finance its bridging loan, said Plus managing director Noorizan Abd Hamid.

?Liquidity is an issue but with lower interest rates, we are re-looking at the market. We will make sure we get the best rates.

Kementerian Kerja Raya kumpul RM800,000

KUALA LUMPUR 5 Feb. - Sebanyak RM800,000 berjaya dikutip Kementerian Kerja Raya untuk disalurkan kepada Tabung Kemanusiaan Rakyat Palestin hari ini.

Daripada jumlah itu, sebanyak RM500,000 disumbangkan oleh Projek Lebuhraya Utara Selatan Bhd. (PLUS); RM151,222 daripada para pengguna lebuh raya, Lebuhraya Besraya dan New Pantai Expressway (RM100,000), Jabatan Kerja Raya (RM21,687), Prolintas dan Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (RM14,050), Kementerian Kerja Raya (RM6,807) dan Lembaga Pembangunan Industri Pembinaan Malaysia (RM6,234). 

Kementerian Kerja Raya kini bertaraf lima bintang

KUALA LUMPUR 14 Jan. - Kementerian Kerja Raya mencatat sejarah sebagai kementerian pertama mendapat pengiktirafan lima bintang menerusi Sistem Penarafan Bintang (SSR) yang diperkenalkan oleh Unit Pemodenan Tadbiran dan Perancangan Pengurusan Malaysia (Mampu).

Ketua Setiausahanya, Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Munit Kasmin berkata, hasil penilaian SSR, kementeriannya berjaya memperoleh markah tertinggi iaitu 92.18 peratus sekali gus layak diiktiraf sebagai kementerian lima bintang bagi tahun 2008 menewaskan 27 buah kementerian lain.

Works Ministry gets five stars

KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry is the first and only ministry to score five stars under the Star Rating System conducted by the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu).

Secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Munit Kasmin said Mampu had given the ministry a score of 92.18% out of possible 100% during last year's evaluation.

This placed the Works Ministry above the Housing and Local Government Ministry and the Education Ministry, which came second and third with scores of 89.62% and 89.08% respectively.

Operator pays RM 30m a year

PUTRAJAYA- The Government received financial gain from its revenue sharing agreement only with Mekar Idaman Sdn Bhd, which operated the Penang Bridge, amounting to some RM30 mil a year.Malaysia Highway Authority chairman (MHA) Datuk Syed Jamal Syed Jaafar said.

He said there has not been any revenue from either PLUS, which operates the North-South Expressway, or Lingkaran Trans Kota Sdn Bhd (Litrak), the concessionaire for Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong.

Gaza fund boxes at toll plazas

PUTRAJAYA: All highway operators have agreed to set up collection boxes at their toll plazas for motorists who want to help the Palestinian victims in Gaza.

Malaysian Highway Authority chairman Datuk Syed Jamal Syed Jaafar said the boxes would be put at the more than 100 toll plazas with immediate effect.

"Money will not replace the lives lost or their suffering, but it will help them. So, if motorists feel they want to donate, they can do that.

RM5 for picture of a pothole

KUALA LUMPUR: It pays to keep a lookout for potholes on the road. Literally. 

Potholes have been known to cause injury and even death to motorists, so being aware of them saves a lot of problems, at the very least.

But if you are a staff member of the Works Ministry, it could mean much more.

Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Abdul Munit Kasmin yesterday offered a RM5 reward to any employee who snaps a picture of a pothole on federal roads.

Award for MMC-Gamuda

KUALA LUMPUR: MMC-Gamuda Joint Venture was named Contractor of the Year at the Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2008 organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) on Tuesday.

Gamuda executive director Ng Kee Leen received the award from Works Minister Datuk Mohamad Zin Mohd for the company's work on the SMART tunnel project.

Three individuals received awards in their respective fields:
