KUALA LUMPUR: Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said those responsible for the collapse of eight concrete beams of an uncompleted Kajang-Seremban Highway flyover near Pajam would face the music. 

He had instructed the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) to investigate the Thursday night incident, and on Saturday the MHA handed its preliminary report to the minister.

Samy Vellu, however, wants a more detailed report.

"I view this matter very seriously. This is the first time something like this has happened, although we have built many bridges before," he said.

"We need to know whether there was any element of human error or negligence involved.

"Action will be taken against any contractor found to be negligent. 

"From the first report, I have an idea of how it happened, but we need further details to determine the cause." 

The MHA will have the more detailed report, complete with visuals, ready by tomorrow.

The type of action to be taken will be discussed by the Works Ministry after the detailed MHA report has been studied.
