Projek kawal selia JKR dapat siap ikut jadual

KUALA LUMPUR- Kementerian Kerjaraya akan menyempurnakan semua projek dalam Rancangan Malaysia Kesembilan (RMK-9) serta yakin membelanjakan 99.9 peratus daripada peruntukan RM 20 bilion yang disediakan untuk kementerian ini.

Menterinya, Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu, berkata semua projek yang dikawal selia Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) berjalan  lancar dan dapat disiapkan mengikut jadual seperti diarahkan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

CIMP Pemangkin Sektor pembinaan Negara.

Sektor pembinaan Negara perlu berkerjasama untuk mencapai matlamat Pelan Utama Industri Pembinaan (CIMP) agas industri pembinaan Malaysia lebih berdaya  saing, inovatif dan bertaraf dunia.

Penubuhan CIMP bertujuan membangunkan industrri pembinaan Negara yang dinamik dan tahan lasak.

Selain itu, CIMP juga bermatlamat penyokong penjanaan kekayaan dan pembentukan nilai yang padu serta diterajui oleh komuniti pembinaan yang menghayati teknologi dan kreatif.

Beam laid without support claim

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the beams that collapsed at an uncompleted flyover near Nilai had been laid without support, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said. 

"As all the beams were connected by wires, when this particular beam collapsed, it brought down all the other beams," he said, adding that the contractor would be punished for it.  

"I have instructed the director-general to be at the site to assess the situation," said Samy Vellu. A full report is expected from the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) tomorrow. 

10% hike in toll charges

IPOH: Malaysians can expect a 10% increase in toll rates, with eight concessionaires raising their charges form Jan 1 next year, said Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.

However, he said the ministry was working on several proposals to spread part of the cost the concessionaire and the Government.

"Rather than burden the people, we want to divide the load so the companies carry a bit and the people a bit.

Trans-Eastern Highway to generate spillover benefits

WORK Minister Datuk S. Samy Vellu said there will be a spillover effect when the RM 489.5 million Trans-Eastern  Kedah Interland Trans-Eastern Highway is completed in two years.State ?owned Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB) is the main contractor for the 116 km toll-free highway job, which will connect Durian Burung to Baling.

"When the highways is completed, we expect new infrastructure, housing and industrial development in the are," Samy Vellu toll Business Times at the launch of Stevens TPO roofing membrane system in Kuala Lumpur last  Thursday.

Motosikal berkuasa tinggi dilarang guna Plus

PARIT 1 Okt. - Kementerian Kerja Raya mungkin mengharamkan motosikal berkuasa tinggi daripada menggunakan Lebuh Raya Utara Selatan jika pemiliknya terus mengabaikan aspek keselamatan dan undang-undang jalan raya.

Menterinya, Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu berkata, penunggang motosikal berkuasa tinggi sering menjadikan lebuh raya itu sebagai medan berlumba sehingga membahayakan orang lain.

Malah, beliau sendiri pernah mengalami saat-saat yang menakutkan apabila terserempak dengan golongan itu yang menunggang dengan terlalu laju.

Syor serap sebahagian kenaikan kadar tol

KUALA LUMPUR-  Kementerian Kerjaraya mencadangkan lapan syarikat konsesi dan kerajaan masing-masing menyerap sebahagian kenaikan 10 peratus kadar tol yang sepatutnya dilaksanakan Januari depan,supaya tidak membebankan pengguna, kata Menterinya, Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu.

Beliau berkata, kementerian berharap kerajaan dan syarikat konsesi bertolak ansur dan berkongsi sama rata peningkatan terbabit walaupun perjanjian konsesi membenarkan kenaikan 10 peratus.

Speed limit to be reduced this Raya

KUALA LUMPUR: The speed limit on federal and state roads will be reduced by 10kph to 20kph for three weeks during the Hari Raya festive period. 

Anyone going beyond 80kph will be booked. The present speed limit on state and federal roads is 90kph.

The decision was made by a committee headed by the Works Ministry tasked with finding ways to reduce accidents on the roads during Hari Raya.

Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said the committee?s goal was an accident-free Hari Raya this year.
