Terowong SMART ditutup, jalan di ibu kota sesak

KUALA LUMPUR - Hujan lebat yang turun sejak tengah hari semalam menyebabkan Terowong Pengurusan Air Banjir dan Jalan Raya (SMART) ditutup sekali lagi kepada lalu lintas bagi membolehkan operasi sistem banjir dijalan kan.

Menurut kenyataan yang dikeluarkan Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir dan Terowong Sdn. Bhd., terowong itu ditutup sejak pukul 3 petang dan menyebabkan kesekan lalu lintas yang teruk sekitar ibu kota.

Relief for residents with roadworks completed

THE road restoration work along Jalan PJS 9/1 in Bandar Sunway has finally been completed, bringing an end to the daily suffering and woes of residents and business community in the Lagoon Perdana area.

Prior to the restoration, the road was filthy and had several potholes as it was the only access route for lorries transporting earth for land filling at nearby projects.

While cars entering this area were damaged, several accidents had also occurred, when motorcyclists were dislodged and fell when their vehicles hit the potholes that were covered with water. .

Seri Kembangan folks have no access to KL-Putrajaya highway

THE Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Highway may offer a swift and smooth drive to the city centre but road users in Seri Kembangan are annoyed because they cannot access the thoroughfare.

There are no entry and exit points between Seri Kembangan and the 26km-long expressway opened on Dec 13 last year. The expressway links with major roads and highways like the MRR1, MRR2, Besraya, NPE, KL-Seremban Highway and Kesas.

Floods and hailstorms hit KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods caused by clogged drains brought traffic to a crawl in Jalan Pahang while hailstorms hit several parts of the Klang Valley.

The downpour since afternoon forced the Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) to be closed at 3pm for flood mitigation operations.

"SMART calls on motorists to be patient. Current information will be given to the media from time to time," the operators said in a statement.

The water level started rising at about 2pm near Bulatan Pahang after the downpour.

Works Ministry to submit project list for 9MP mid-term review

IPOH: The works Ministry will submit its list of projects to be completed to the Economic Planning Unit ( EPU) next week for the midterm review of the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP).

Minister Datuk Seri S Vellu said priority would be given to projects which had already received the letter of acceptance.

"Besides that, other projects include those already approved by the Cabinet which support or complement all the development regions like the Northern Corridor," he said.

Abdul Munit dilantik KSU baru

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 Jan. - Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha (Pembangunan), Kementerian Kerja Raya Datuk Dr. Abdul Munit Kasmin dilantik sebagai Ketua Setiausaha kementerian itu mulai 27 Januari ini, Ketua Setiausaha Negara, Tan Sri Mohd. Sidek Hassan mengumumkan dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.

Beliau menggantikan Datuk Syed Jamal Syed Jaafar yang bersara wajib pada tarikh tersebut.

Penduduk mohon bina jejantas berhampiran sekolah

SRI ANDALAS- Penduduk di kawasan berhampiran Sekolah  Menengah Sri Andalas dan sekitarnya mengharapkan pihak berkaitan membina jejantas kerana kawasan tersebut sering berlaku kemalangan.

Menurut Zuraida Azid, 48 penduduk sudah lama membuat permohonan untuk membina jejantas di kawasan tersebut.

"Penbinaan jejantas tersebut sedikit-sebanyak memberi keselesaan kepada penduduk di sini terutamanya pelajar serta pejalan kaki.

Projek jambatan ketiga di Klang siap dua setengah tahun

KLANG : Projek pembinaan jambatan ketiga melintasi Sungai Klang sepanjang 3.8 km di sini yang melibatkan kos RM 23. juta dijangka siap sepenuhnya dalam masa dua setengah tahun, kata Menteri Kerja Raya, Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.

Katanya, kerja pembinaan kemudahan jalan raya dan jambatan untuk projek berkenaan akan dimulakan dalam tempoh empat bulan ini.

"Saya percaya dalam tempoh  empat bulan ini bolehlah kita mula projek ini.Reka bentuk  untuk projek semuanya sudah selesai dan tawaran akan dipanggil secepat mungkin," katanya.
