Bandar Mahkota Cheras: Cheras road to remain open for now

KUALA LUMPUR: The cabinet has decided that the disputed Bandar Mahkota Cheras toll-free access road to the Cheras-Kajang Highway would remain open until the issue is settled in court. 

Speaking after visiting the access road, Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed announced that at its meeting yesterday, the cabinet decided to allow residents to continue using the road and disallow the barriers to be rebuilt.

Konflik penduduk-Grand Saga selesai

KUALA LUMPUR 30 Mei - Kabinet hari ini mengarahkan laluan Bandar Mahkota Cheras (BMC) ke persimpangan Bandar Tun Hussein Onn di Lebuh Raya Cheras-Kajang yang mencetuskan kontroversi sejak dua tahun lalu dibuka serta-merta. 

Menteri Kerja Raya, Datuk Ir. Mohd. Zin Mohamed berkata, laluan tersebut akan terus dibuka sehingga mahkamah membuat keputusan berhubung pertikaian penutupan laluan itu antara pemegang konsesi lebuh raya, Grand Saga Sdn. Bhd. (Grand Saga) dan pemaju BMC, Narajaya Sdn. Bhd. (Narajaya).

KKR lancar Ekspedisi Jalan Persekutuan

ALAN SULTAN SALAHUSSIN - Bangi memberi pendidikan dan kesedaran mengenai Jalan Persekutuan kepada warga kerja Kementerian kerja Raya (KKR) Bahagian Kawalselia dan Penyenggaraan KKR melancarkan Ekspedisi Jalan Persekutuan, semalam.

Ketua Setiausaha KKR, Datuk Dr Abdul Munit Kasmin berkata, programitu merupakan yang kedua tahun ini dengan program sebelum ini melibatkan 30 peserta dan dialaksanakan pada 18 April lalu dengan ekspedisi bermula dari Kompleks Kerja Raya serta taman di Skudai, Johor.

Penubuhan universiti JKR dua tahun lagi

KUALA LUMPUR - Menteri Kerja Raya Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed menyifatkan penubuhan Universiti Jabatan Kerja Raya(JKR) yang dijangka akan ditubuhkan dalam tempoh dua tahun lagi dapat membantu menyelesaikan masalah kenaikan harga bahan binaan yang boleh menjejaskan program-program pembangunan infrastruktur.

Beliau berkata, dengan penemuan teknik pembinaan dan kejuruteraan serta penciptaan bahan-bahan binaan yang lebih murah, masalah kenaikan harga bahan binaan dapat diserap dengan lebih berkesan.

Bandar Mahkota Cheras dispute: Khalid brings down barricade

KUALA LUMPUR: An enforced "truce" is in place between Grand Saga Sdn Bhd and Bandar Mahkota Cheras residents over free access to the Cheras-Kajang Highway. 

One day after police urged Grand Saga not to put up barricade, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim summoned the Kajang Municipal Council to completely remove the remnants of the barricade. 

Bandar Mahkota residents take their case to Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 30 residents of Bandar Mahkota Cheras brought their case to Parliament, wielding banners urging the Works Minister to reopen the access road to the housing area.

They gathered outside the Parliament building with banners which read: "Menteri Kerja Raya, Tolong Rakyat Buka Jalan" (Works Minister, please help the people open the road).

A resident, who only wanted to be known as Mas, said the barricade, built by highway concessionaire Grand Saga Sdn Bhd, had created serious traffic congestion for the residents in the area.

End to Cheras saga today?

KUALA LUMPUR: A solution is in sight to the Bandar Mahkota Cheras access road issue.

Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed is expected to visit the site today and make an announcement, according to highway concessionaire Grand Saga Sdn Bhd.

In a statement yesterday, Grand Saga executive director (business development and corporate affairs) Zainal Abidin Ali said they met Mohd Zin yesterday to discuss the issue.

"After the meeting, we believe that a solution is in sight. The Minister will issue an official statement tomorrow," said Zainal Abidin.

BMC folk turn to MPs to fight Grand Saga

FRUSTRATED Bandar Mahkota Cheras (BMC) residents handed a memorandum to Pakatan Rakyat MPs in Parliament for the ?road barricade? issue to be raised with Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed.

Bandar Mahkota Open Road Committee Secretary Tan Han Kuo said the residents are appealing to mohd zin to cofirm the public?s ringht to use the road linking the housing area and the Cheras ? Kajang Highway.

He said the highway concessionaire Grand Saga Sdn Bhd?s act of erecting barricades on an existing road junction had caused untoward incidents and unhappiness among the residents.

Grand Saga to rebuild barricade

GRAND SAGA Sdn. Bhd. The concessionaire of the Cheras-Kajang Higjway, will reconstruct a barricade at the access road in Bandar Mahkota Cheras.

Its executive director, Zainal Abidin Ali, said in a press statement that the barricade was necessary to protect its interest as well as to ensure the safety of highway users.

According to Zainal Abidin, the original barricade was built to prevent unlawful access to the Cheras-Kajang Highway.

It was illegally demolished on April 21.

Jalan Bandar Mahkota Cheras ditutup semula

BANDAR MAHKOTA CHERAS - Isu tembok penghalang di Bandar Mahkota Cheras mencapai tahap klimaksnya apabila tembok itu didirikan semula oleh konsesi Lebuh Raya Cheras-Kajang, Grand Saga Sdn. Bhd. (Grand Saga), semalam.

Ekoran penolakan permohonan penduduk Bandar Mahkota Cheras bagi mendapatkan perintah injunksi terhadap pemegang konsesi itu oleh Mahkamah Tinggi pada 12 Mei lalu maka pembinaan semula tembok mula dilakukan.
