Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 19 October 2011- Ministry of Works (MoW) organized Innovation Day 2011 at Tan Sri Mahfoz Khalid Hall. The function was officiated by Works Minister, YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor.
By having ‘Innovation Drive Transformation’ as a theme of the event, various of interesting programs were arranged such Innovation Exhibition which was participated by departments and agencies of MoW, Innovation Speech entitled ‘Power of a Positive Mindset’ ]by Dr. Yusof bin Rabu (Pro Mind Solutions) and Multimedia Presentation. Innovation Run was also arranged on 18 October 2011, a day before Innovation Day Launching Ceremony which was participated by MoW employees.   
The main highlight of Innovation Day 2011 was Innovation Award Presentation for the Year 2011 by YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor. 6 awards were given to MoW employees for those who had showed a better performance and deeper understanding on quality and innovation management.  
Sr. Amran Bin Mohd Majid, Senior Assistant Director General of Contract and Surveying Branch, Works Department (JKR) received ‘Tokoh Kerja Raya’ Award (ATKR), while Works Minister’s Special Award (AKMKR) 2011 received by Mr. Mahaindran a/l Kristnan, Civil Engineer of Facilities Maintenance Department, JKR Building Federal Territory.   
YB. Minister took opportunity by visiting Innovation Exhibition area at the hall.
Presented to the function was Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Dato’ Zaiton Binti Mhad Ali, Deputy Secretary General (Operation), Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Nasir Bin Mat Dam, Deputy Secretary General (Development), Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Hj. Mohd Noor Bin Yaacob, the Director General of JKR, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Sri Ir. Dr. Judin Bin Abdul Karim, Chief Executive of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Haji Ismail Bin Md. Salleh, the Director General of Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).

Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 18 October 2011- The Launching Ceremony of National Road Reference Center (PRJN) held on 18 October 2011. The ceremony was inaugurated by Y.Bhg. Datuk Thomas George, Works Ministry (MoW) Secretary General.

Library of MoW was launched mid of 2006. In accordance with growth, and environmental challenges with ministry’s leader about planning, implementation and road maintenance, MoW’s library changed its name to Pusat Rujukan Jalan Negara (PRJN) early of 2010. PRJN was placed under the supervision of Road Planning Division (BPJ).       

The establishment of PRJN became a MoW’s leading platform in construction sector especially becoming a main reference centre for sources of information on road development that is recognized in Malaysia.

Among services and facilities that have been prepared in PRJN are Online Services (Web Opac), Online Services (Road Comfort System, Location of Accident, Travelling Duration and Traffic Volume), Viewing Room, Exhibition space and Driving Simulation following selected geometric standard.

Material booking, loan renewal and searching of material can be done online through PRJN website, http://elibrary.kkr.gov.my/.

Image removed.Pulau Pinang, 17 October 2011- The construction works of 24 kilometres long Second Penang Bridge (JPP2) is expected to be complete two months earlier than scheduled, which is September 2013. The construction works of the bridge costs 4.5 billion.

 The Works Minister, Datuk Seri Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, who is satisfied with the progress of the project said, mega construction structure will be completed 70 per cent by the end of this year.

The bridge construction that links Batu Maung with Batu Kawan has three packages with first package costs RM2.2 billion involving site construction work, basic structure and the arch expected to be completed on May 2012. Second package that involves contract worth of RM1.55 billion for mega construction structure and to be complete in 2013, while the third package worth RM 750 million will be announced in the future. The island will be equipped with 2 Toll Plazas and 3 intersections.        

The Minister’s visit was accompanied by senior Officers from Works Ministry, Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), Works Department (JKR), concession, Jambatan Kedua sdn. Bhd. (JKSB). YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman urged local undergraduates to try out their experience by undergoing industrial training in a mega project such JPP2 because mega projects like JPP2 rarely implemented in Malaysia.     

The bridge construction is a joint venture between China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd dan UEM builders Bhd. Starting 2008.

Image removed.Melaka, 8 Oktober 2011- YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, the Works Minister was awarded ‘Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka (D.G.S.M)’ that brings ‘Datuk Seri’ title in conjunction of Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob’s 73rd birthday.  

Around 266 people were awarded ‘Darjah’, ‘Tauliah’, ‘Bintang’ and ‘Pingat Kebesaran’ in the ceremony that held in Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh Melaka.

Image removed.Image removed.Johor Bahru – 29 September 2011, “The maintenance project of Segamat-Tangkak road expected to be start in November, 2011 with estimation cost of RM 750 million,” said YB. Dato’ Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, the Works Minister to the media during his visit to the project site.
The project will be divided into 5 phase where the first phase cost more than RM100 million and will be complete in two (2) years. Overall, the road maintenance project along 63 kilometers involves 19 bridges including rebuild of 14 bridges. Therefore, the government believes that the project will give comfortness to the users besides boosting industrial activities in Segamat as easier link to North-South Highway in Tangkak.
Those who present to the site were Human Resource Minister, YB. Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam who is also a Member of Parliament in Segamat, YB. Dr. Lee Hong Tee, Member of the Legislative Assembly Jementah and YB. Dato’ Ayub Rahmat, Member of the Legislative Assembly Kemelah.
On the same day in the afternoon, the minister launched 1Malaysia Pedestrian lane at Sekolah Kebangsaan Mawai, Kota Tinggi, Johor. The government allocated RM 4.5 million involving 30 locations nationwide is expected to be complete in mid of November 2011. The initiative was taken to increase students’ safety on the road at school environment with optimum cost.

Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak had a visit to temporary House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat) and House of Senate (Dewan Negara) on 28 September 2011. House of Representatives meeting will be held in this until maintenance of the parliament building is complete.
Few facilities were arranged such Conference Hall, lobby, viaduct to link Parliament’s main building with temporary building and some completed facilities for physically challenged people.
Prime Minister’s arrival was greeted by Y.B. Dato’ Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, The Works Minister, Y.B. Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister in Prime Minister’s Department, Y.B. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Pandikar Amin Haji Mulia, Speaker of House of Representatives and Speaker of House of Senate, Y.B. Tan Sri Abu Zahar Bin Dato’ Nika Ujang, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Bin Haji Hasan, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, Senior Officers from Works Ministry and Agencies.

Image removed.Image removed.Negeri Sembilan – In conjunction of Malaysia’s Audit Day 2011, Ministry of Works (MoW) received Financial Management Excellence Award Based on National Audit Department’s Accountability Index for the year 2010 on 27 September 2010. The event was taken place at national Audit Academy, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

MoW received 4 Star rating which is excellent financial management. The award was presented by Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Bin Hj. Hassan, National Secretary General and received by Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Dato’ Zaiton Binti Mhad Ali, MoW’s Deputy Secretary General (Operation).

Image removed.Image removed.Kuala Lumpur – Ministry of Works’ (MoW) The Launch of Quality Practices (5S) held on 26 September 2011 at Seri Pagi Meeting Room, 11th Floor, B Block, Ministry of Works. The launching ceremony was officiated by Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Dato’ Zaiton Binti Mhad Ali, the Deputy Secretary-General (Operation). The ceremony officially shows that MoW gives full commitment in shaping 5S in ministry.
The implementation of 5S is a new method or minimum guideline to MoW employees from the aspects of cleanliness, neatness and safety to create a comfortable, neat and safe working environment. 5S practice concentrates on 5 steps starts with the first letter ‘S’ which was taken from Japanese language, Seiri, Seiton, seiso, Seiketsu, Shitsuke that means casting out, arrange, sweep, uniform, and always practice.

Image removed.Image removed.Brunei – A Launching Ceremony for site project of bridge construction at Sungai Pandaruan held on September 13, 2011 at Bandar Seri Bagawan. The bridge construction project linking Pandaruan River and Limbang, Sarawak and Temburong District, Brunei tightened two way relationship between Malaysia and Brunei. ‘Plak Signing Ceremony’ was signed between Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdullah Bin Begawan Mudim Dato Haji Bakar, Relations Minister of Brunei Darussalam and YB. Dato’ Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, the Minister of Works Ministry (MoW).
Sungai Pandaruan separates Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. Hence, the concrete bridge project is on time and speed up cross border trader that gives a positive impact to enhance economic and two way relation between both countries.
