KAJANG, February 5 - Awareness, Security and ICT Acculturation of Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) was held at the MHA Multipurpose Hall today. The program aims to create awareness of the importance of the Information and Communication Technologies Security (DKICT) to its citizens.

MHA ICT Security Policy (DKICT) consists of the rules that must be read and followed in the use of information technology assets and communications technology (ICT) Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA). This policy also explains to all users in the MHA about their role and responsibility in protecting the MHA ICT assets.

The full day program was inaugurated by the Secretary General to the Ministry of Works (MoW), YBhg. Datuk Himmat Singh. Among the events organized were the launching of applications such as HAQS and SPL MHA Version 2, slots for talks, quizzes and ICT related exhibitions.

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 January – The Maulidur Rasul Celebration of Ministry of Works (MoW)  was held at the Tan Sri Mahfoz Khalid Hall, Kompleks Kerja Raya today in conjunction of the birth of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

The Celebration commenced with the group procession by MoW, Public Works Department (PWD), Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) members starting from the compound of Block A Kompleks Kerja Raya to the Hall through Jalan Sultan Salahuddin.  Also joining the parade was YBhg. Dato’ Haji Nasir bin Mat Dam, Deputy Secretary General (Development) and YBhg. Dato’ Ir. Haji Ismail bin Md. Salleh, Director General of MHA.

The event continued inside Tan Sri Mahfoz Khalid Hall with the recital of the Quran verses, qasidas presentation and invocation by the students of Madrasah Al-Yamani, Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur.  The audience also jointly shared knowledge through lectures delivered by Ustaz Don Daniyal Don Biyajid, a free speaker on the theme "Wasatiyyah Pillar of Ummah Unity". This celebration concluded with the mass prayer by the audience led by Ustaz Ahmad Al-Yamani. An estimated more than 800 MoW members participated in this program.

KAJANG, January 29 - Deputy Minister of Works, YB. Dato’ Yong Khoon Seng said the government has approved the construction of the tunnel (underpass) and road connections across Taman Kajang Utama on Kajang Silk Highway (SILK) with an allocation of RM30 million during a working visit to the project site in KM20.5 SILK Highway today.

The tunnel and road construction period is estimated to be 27 months from the first quarter of 2013 including the acquisition of land and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2015. Length of the tunnel is 33 meters while the road connectivity is over 675 meters.

The Tunnel construction and road connections would provide direct access in / out Taman Kajang Utama and residents no longer have to make a U-turn which is located 2km before Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza from the original route that makes commuting increased to 4 km.

This tunnel will benefit 20,000 users by shortening the residents traveling time and save traveling costs and facilitate the movement of the local population.

KUALA LUMPUR, 29 January - Ministry of Works (MOW) staffs are reminded to inculcate the culture of productivity, creativity and innovation (PCI) and practice to work quickly, accurately and with integrity (CTI) in accordance with the intentions of the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Works Minister, YB. Dato’ Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor said this during MoW Monthly Assembly. His speech was read by YBhg. Datuk Himmat Singh, Secretary General of the Ministry at Dewan Tan Sri Mahfoz Khalid today. At this gathering, MoW staffs came together to share message and information from the top management.

He once again called on all the Ministry members to be cohesive in the realization of any plans which has been made.

"We have a great responsibility to ensure that our country is on the right track in implementing the national aspirations," he said in front of an audience of 800 MoW members and representatives from departments and agencies.

SUBANG JAYA, January 14 - Minister of Works, YB. Dato’ Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor, made ​​a working visit to the construction site of the elevated U-turn  at Kilometres 37.5 Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) today to review the progress of the construction works.

According to him, the project is to relieve highway congestion that now reach up to 9,500 vehicles per hour during peak hours. Works Ministry has allocated RM25 million to the KESAS concessionaire in October 2011 for the project.

During the visit, the YB. Minister also announced the restructuring of the toll rates for all types of vehicles on the highway at all four KESAS highway toll plaza namely Awan Besar, Sunway and Kemuning which will benefit about 290,000 users around Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Klang.

Image removed.MARAN, January 11 - Ministry of Works has allocated RM106.6 million between October 2012 and Jan 5 this year to repair the federal roads which were damaged by the recent floods.

Works Minister, YB. Dato’ Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor said due to the recent series of flood, the Ministry received many reports from the Public Works Department (PWD) about damaged roads, especially on the East Coast. "The Ministry also appealed to the congregational minister to increase the amount of the allotment to finance in recovering the affected streets, especially in Terengganu," he said.

"We will replace and enlarge the small ones especially in areas that are at risk to avoid the risk of flash floods from damaging the roads," he said.

He said the works on the overhaul of the affected federal roads are being carried out by the concession to ensure the traffic in the affected areas is not affected. "We have given the concessionaire up to March to complete the repair works, especially in high traffic areas. This is to ensure the safety of road users on the route is not jeopardized," he said. He added that the Ministry is also prepared to raise the level of the Jerangau-Jabor road which is often flooded in the rainy season.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 - Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) has recommended the Ministry of Works (MoW) to obtain 5S Certification.  Chief Auditor of Certification Division, MPC, Puan Ati Djam Seri Montoi said that while presenting the MoW 5S Certification Audit report today at Kompleks Kerja Raya. 

MoW has appointed MPC to conduct 5S audit into the eight zones involved in the ministry. Among the affected zones are zones Gamelan Zone (Accounts Division), Dahlia Zone (Finance Division), Kenanga Zone (Planning Street Division), Jasmine Zone (Corporate Services Division), Melati Zone (Corporate Communication Unit), Kesidang Zone (Internal Audit Unit), Seri Pagi Zone (Construction Policy Division) and Bougainvillea Zone (Entrepreneur Development Division).

The ceremony began with the remarks by Deputy Secretary-General (Operations), Encik Sarani bin Dollah, followed by the presentation of the 5S practice in MoW.

Activity continues with the inspection of the 5S practice documentation session by two MPC auditors, Chief Auditor, Puan Ati Djam Seri Montoi and Puan Norfaizah binti Abdul Rahman.  All 5S files for the Main Committee, Training Committee, Promotion, Audit and 5S Zone was inspected to meet the certification practices criteria of 5S. Upon completion of inspection, the auditors conducted visits to the eight zones involved, accompanied by the Secretariat and MoW 5S coordinator.

The briefing session for the closing of the audit was held in the afternoon of the day. Chief Auditor has presented the results of the audit report based on all the observations made. Overall, the Ministry of Works has been certified eligible. She hopes that the achievement would encourage to other divisions to continue the 5S practice in the ministry. She also congratulated those involved.

BINTULU, January 7 - Deputy Minister of Works, YB. Dato’ Yong Khoon Seng made ​​a working visit and attended a special meeting with the Monitoring Committee of Ministry Projects with “Lewat Jadual dan Sakit Bil. 1/2013” for Sarawak.

This meeting aims to discuss the issues and problems of ministry projects with late on schedule and delayed status. Also discussed are the solutions to the problem related projects. Among those present at the meeting were officials from Ministry of Works (MoW) and representatives from Public Works Department (PWD) (Federal) and the Bintulu Branch.

During his visit, YB. Deputy Minister visited Bintulu New Prison Project where the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) is the Client Ministry of MoW. After that, he visited the Pan Borneo Highway Upgrade Project (Selangau-Bintulu Road) to have a closer look at the status of the work done.

The second day of the visit was made to the Road Upgrading Project of Tanjung Kidurong to Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP), Bintulu Division. This is the main road connecting Bintulu to Samalaju and increased volume of heavy vehicles and the increasing traffic flow, effects of the rapid development in the Samalaju industrial area. Status of the project is it is a new project approved in the 3rd Rolling Plan.

SERDANG, January 6 - The Ministry of Works today called the Local Authority (LA) to set up ‘slope’ unit to monitor the landslide in the country.  It’s minister, Dato’ Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor, said only a small number of local authorities have their own ‘slope’ units including the Public Works Department (PWD).

"We desperately need more geologists who are able to monitor the slope. Currently only 34 geologists in PWD ... it's not enough to monitor for the whole country.  "In fact, the local authorities, which has the unit are Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ),Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and Penang Municipal Council (MPPP). 

"We have identified 21,000 gradients that need to be monitored, which involves monitoring the aspects of stability at all times," he said after visiting the collapsed wall condition at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) here today.  He said the government has approved guidelines for the construction of buildings on the slope area through Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

"I think that these guidelines can be complemented by self-monitoring slope units specifically for local authorities with high raise placement," he said.  In the 6.15pm incident yesterday, six metres guardrail walls with a height of two metres collapse resulting severe damage to seven motorcycles owned by Kolej Serumpun, UPM students.

SEREMBAN, February 4 - The concessionaire of North South Expressway (NSE) is upgrading its existing lanes from three (3) lanes to four (4) lanes on the route from Shah Alam - Rawang - Jalan Duta and Nilai Interchange (U) - Seremban/ Port Dickson. This involves a distance of 63.3 kilometers in the North-South Expressway (E1) and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE-E2).

In this regard, Minister of Works, YB. Dato' Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor, made ​​a working visit to the Seremban R & R stops (ESE) today and was briefed on the project by YBhg. Dato' Ir. Haji Ismail bin Md. Salleh, Director General of the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA).  The project which is divided into five packages was initiated on July 6, 2012 and the main works that is being carried out at the site are as the earthworks, drainage, slope stabilization, utility transfer and widening of the bridge structure.

The widening will improve the travelling quality and increase the traffic capacity of 180,000 vehicles a day namely the "Level of Service" (LOS) F during festive seasons and peak hours, to 220,000 vehicles a day, LOS C. During the visit, YB. Minister also announced Highway Concessionaires toll discounts and rebates program in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations for the Year 2013. A total of 24 highways involved in the program, which is a continuation of the CSR concessionaires program before the Hari Raya, Deepavali, Christmas and Independence Day celebrations.
