GEORGETOWN: Ketua Menteri, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, menafikan Jambatan Pulau Pinang mengalami keretakan serius sehingga memaksa kerajaan negeri mengeluarkan araha  tidak membenarkan kenderaan berat melaluinya.

Beliau berkata, kerajaan negeri tidak menerima sebarang laporan daripada mana-mana pihak mengenai status struktur jambatan itu yang dikatakan berbahaya berikutan kerja pelebaran yang sedang dijalankan.

KUALA LUMPUR: There are no worrying cracks on the Penang Bridge that can compromise the safety of the structure, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said here Wednesday. 

"The bridge structure is strong and people can use it any time without worry," he said. 

Samy Vellu was commenting on Sungai Dua assemblyman Datuk Jasmin Mohamed's allegation at the Penang state assembly on Tuesday that there were serious cracks on the bridge. 

KUALA LUMPUR: The Penang Bridge does not have any serious cracks that will endanger motorists, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said yesterday. 

"The structure of the bridge is solid and motorists can safely use the bridge anytime." 

Samy Vellu said the engineering consultant appointed to inspect the bridge had established that the strength of the structure was good.

He was responding to allegations raised by Sungai Dua assemblyman Jasmin Mohamad in the Penang state assembly on Tuesday that there were serious cracks in the Penang Bridge.
