CIDB Celebrates 427 ABM Graduates

JOHOR BARU, May 28 - The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia today celebrated 427 Malaysian Construction Academy (ABM) trainees who have completed their studies in various fields and will receive a Certificate of Proficiency Skills respectively.

Of the total, 100 trainees were sponsored by Yayasan FELDA in the field of welding under The Welding Institute (TWI), while the IRDA has selected 60 trainees to become the pilots for Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studio project. Apart from that, a total of 100 interns will be given the opportunity to undergo training in the industry with 20 local contractors.

YB. Datuk Haji Fadillah Yusof, Minister of Works in his speech called on other industry players to also take the same step to give industrial exposure to the local construction trainees and absorb them as skilled workers in related trades.

"I see this collaboration will create a positive impact towards national development in a more effective way and in a larger scale and to ensure this Ministry and CIDB will continue to develop the capacity and capability of local youths in the latest construction skills with industry experience that meets international standards, "he added.

Since the establishment of ABM South Region in 2001, it has managed to produce more than 12,844 skilled trainees in the selected construction trades.  Additionally ABM Southern Region also has trained 18,737 construction personnel in various fields.  The youth and construction personnel who have been trained in Malaysia since 2001 are 200,000 people.
