MPAJ tangguh edar laporan tanah runtuh

SHAH ALAM: Laporan Kajian tanah runtuh di Bukit Antarabangsa, tahun lalu tidak akan diedarkan kepada orang ramai hari ini kerana belum mendapat kebenaran rasmi kerajaan pusat.

Pejabat Menteri Besar berkata, Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) menangguhkan untuk mengedarkan laporan itu kepada orang awam kerana Kementerian Kerjaraya tidak mengeluarkan sebarang surat rasmi.

Pejabat Menteri Besar berkata, walaupun Menteri Kerja Raya, Datuk Shaziman Mansor dilaporkan itu tetapi ia hanya secara lisan.

Set up agency to monitor slope developments

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia Institution of Engineers suggests the setting up of a new centralised federal agency called Agency for Control of Developments with Slopes (ACDS) as a measure to minimise tragedies.

“The institution feels that every time there is a tragedy, lots of investigation are conducted. Certain things need to be done so that such tragedies can be avoided to a bare minimum,” said institute president Prof Datuk Dr Chuah Hean Teik yesterday.

Meeting with PWD over stadium

KUALA TERENGGANU: Several parties involved in the construction of the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium are to meet the Public Works Department today over the collapse of the stadium's roof on June 2. 

The meeting at PWD's headquarters in Putrajaya is part of the investigation into the incident, a source said, adding that the report on the incident would be released on Dec 15.

The source is " bemused" by how the government has decided that the stadium's contractor is responsible for repairing the roof though the investigation is not over.

Bukan itu saja, kawasan rehat yang turut menampilkan aspek pelancongan dengan menara tinjau yang membolehkan pengunjung melihat pemandangan Sungai Perak membuatkan ia diiktiraf juga pada kategori Anugerah Utama oleh Persatuan Pelancongan Negeri Perak.

2,000 runners take over expressway

KUALA LUMPUR: Motorised vehicles made way for 2,000 runners who took over the newly opened Duta-Ulu Kelang (DUKE) Expressway for the “Dukethon 2009” promotional run.

Two sections of the expressway, which opened on April 30, were closed for several hours early in the morning for the event yesterday.

The runners, who had to complete 5km, were flagged off by Works Min­ister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor.

Gag order on Bukit Antarabangsa landslide report

THE federal government’s gag order on Bukit Antarabangsa landslide report by the Public Works Department (JKR) has aroused suspicion and is causing discomfort among those affected by the incident on Dec 6 last year.

The residents feel the Government should reveal the report’s content to the people as those who were directly affected by the incident that killed five have the right to know the cause.

Victim Lian Warn Jien, 61, questioned the need to keep the report confidential if the Government had nothing to hide from the people.
