Thank you, minister | Kementerian Kerja Raya Langkau ke kandungan utama

I WOULD like to congratulate our Minister of Works for his understanding of the financial burden all of us bear during these inflationary times. His willing ness to review the highway concessions and search for way to ease congestion on the Lebuhraya Damansara are commendable The LDP is in fact an existing urban highway. What Litrak had done was improve upon the different sections built by various developers and subsequently introduced toll charges. As this highway basically is the main access to a number of housing estates it is fundamentally wrong to have Litrak privatize this route to collect toll. The best and fairest option is therefore for the LDP to be taken back by Public Works Department as a public thoroughfare similar to the Middle Ring Road 2.The never-ending jams on the LDP negates the primary reason for travelers to pay toll, which is easy and free-flowing traffic. The situation is so bad that we have to "queue to pay toll" and then " pay to queue" after the toll-gates.The Minister's proposal for peak and off-peak toll rates is no a fair solution basically because this is the main access road built originally by developers for the purchasers of their homes. Peak and off-Peak toll is actually a form of road pricing. Which should not be implemented until and unless there are alternative roads and transport systems in place. Efficient public transport must be in place before any road pricing system can be implemented.T.C.KBandar Utama,Petaling Jaya
