Motorists can bypass congested Motorola interchange via Majlis Link | Kementerian Kerja Raya Langkau ke kandungan utama

DESPITE its convenience, the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) is also congested at certain interchanges.

As one of the main highways in Petaling Jaya, it is used by motorists to get to nearby townships like Puchong and Kepong.

Along the stretch of LDP are a number of interchanges and the busiest interchange is the one joining the Federal Highway.

Widely known as the Motorola interchange, this particular point of the LDP is always congested during peak hours with vehicles queuing up at the traffic lights to get to the Federal Highway, which is also congested with vehicles heading towards Klang or Kuala Lumpur.

"The traffic at this interchange is saturated," said Lingkaran Trans Kota Holdings Bhd (Litrak) communications manager Bhavani Krishna Iyer.

To ease the traffic congestion, she suggested that the motorists use the Majlis Link to bypass the interchange.

It is a two-way alternative route connecting Federal Highway and the LDP near the Sungai Way Free Industrial Zone (FIZ).

Bhavani also pointed out that once the Subang-Kelana Jaya link is completed, Subang Jaya residents can use the road to get into the Federal Highway without the need to travel on the LDP.

?Now, some motorists will get into the New Pantai Expressway to go to the LDP before joining the Federal Highway at the Motorola interchange," she said.

It was reported earlier that the 4.5km link, a federal government project constructed by Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd, will provide an alternative access and exit to and from Subang Jaya.

It starts from the old Subang airport road and ends at Persiaran Kewajipan near the 3K Complex in SS13, Subang Jaya, just before the traffic light in front of The Summit Subang USJ.

The toll-free link will connect Jalan Kewajipan in Subang Jaya, Jalan Subang (FT15) and Federal Route 2 (FT2), as well as the NKVE, NPE and Kesas Highway.

The project is expected to be completed by December this year.

On a related matter, Bhavani said LDP users could call 03-7494 7333 to find out about the congested locations along LDP to plan their routes.

"There are CCTVs along the LDP so we are able to monitor the traffic situation on the highway," she said.

She added that a 24-hour patrol team is on hand to help motorists whose vehicles break down or are involved in accidents.

"Our officers will get to the scene within seven minutes and clear the situation in 30 minutes," Bhavani said.

Go straight and head on further at the traffic light. (Turning left will get you into FIZ.)

The road will fork into two ? turn left to get to Nanyang Siang Pau, or right up the flyover which crosses the Federal Highway and connects back to the direction heading towards Subang Jaya and Klang.
