KUALA LUMPUR- The government will decide next week whether to allow PLUS ?Expressway Bhd to raise toll rates by 10 per cent or to compensate the concessionaire.
Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed said he would present a working paper on it a next week?s cabinet meeting.
He was hosting Syrian Prime Minister Mohammd Naji Otri at the Malaysian Construction Industry Showcase in Kuala Lumpur. The toll hike was to have taken effect on Jan 1.
Plus last raised toll rates in 2005, following which the next hike was supposed to be in 2008 but high inflation prompted the authorities to delay the increase. As compensation the government pai d PLUS RM 88 million.
PLUS holds the concession to the North-South Expressway , the New Klang Valley Expressway, the 16km stretch of Federal Highway Route 2 and the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway.
