PENANG: Construction work on the second Penang bridge has not stopped, but only slightly delayed. 

Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the delay was to settle problems faced by fishermen in the area. 

"We have to take certain measures to minimise the impact the construction will have on the aquaculture industry,? he told reporters after opening the New World Park at Swatow Lane on Friday.  

The chief minister was clarifying a report which stated that work on the second bridge was recently halted. 

Dr Koh said works were still ongoing and the bridge would still be completed in 2011, a few months later than planned.
