Landslip raise more concerns | Kementerian Kerja Raya Langkau ke kandungan utama

A LANDSLIP that occurred recently at the Bukit Gasing Educational Forest (Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing) has added to the concern of Bukit Gasing residents and joggers who frequent the area.

During a site visit by StarMetro, two men who said they were contractors with the Primer Minister's Department were there to clean up the area and cover it up with a tarpaulin to prevent further erosion.

The landslip is along a pathway and is near a residential unit allocated for government-officers.

"What you see there is an indication of what we?ve been talking about," joint Action Committee of Bukit Gasing (JACBG) committee member Gary Yeoh said.

"This  further evidence that Bukit Gasing is not suitable for development because of its geological structure.

"The landslide is yet another warning that it isn?t safe to have any development here," he said.

He added that it would be incredulous of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to think that Bukit Gasing on the Kuala Lumpur side has a different geological structure just because the landslip occurred on the Petaling Jaya side, and hoped that DBKL would show some concern for the residents.

The High Court has set April 23 to hear an application for leave by the JACBG and a group of owners and residents for a judicial review against DBKL to compel them to hold a public hearing on a proposed development located on the KL side of Bukit Gasing.
