Image removed.Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 8 December – As a token of appreciation, an event to celebrate those who participated with Ministry of Works’ (MoW) Portal and Ministry’s Annual Book Report workloads held in Bilik Tanjung, 6th Floor, Blok A, Kompleks Kerja Raya.

Datuk Himmat Singh, Secretay General of Works Ministry thanked and congratulated for the whole team who made MoW Portal and Annual Book Report successful that MoW received 5 Star Award for the portal and won third (3rd) place in a competition organized by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Datuk Himmat presented certificate of appreciation for those who involved in the production of both Portal and Annual Book Report.       

Those who attended the event were Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Dato’ Zaiton Binti Mhad Ali, Deputy Secretary General (Operation), and senior officers.

Image removed.Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 6 December- An event to celebrate Retiring Civil Servants for the year 2011 was held at Bilik Gerakan, Tingkat 6, Blok A, Kompleks Kerja Raya. The event was organized to appreciate the contributions by them throughout their service in Ministry of Works (MoW).  

The retiring civil servants consist of a professional and supporting staffs. Meanwhile, the event paid its condolence to late Mahamud Bin Ahmad, a retiring staff’s expire during his visit to pay haj. His wife attended the event to represent him.    

Y.Bhg. Datuk Himmat Singh, Secretary General of MoW gave a speech during the event. In his speech, Datuk Himmat Singh expressed his gratitude and acknowledgements to all retirees for their contributions from the day they start to work until retire. Datuk Himmat Singh was honored to give away souvenirs to all retirees.

Those who attended the event were Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Dato’ Zaiton Binti Mhad Ali, Deputy Secretary General (Operation), Y.Bhg. Dato’ Hj Nasir Mat Dam, Deputy Secretary General (Development), senior officers and employees from the ministry.

Image removed.Image removed.Putrajaya – 1 December, The Works Ministry (MoW) was awarded 5 Star Portal in “Malaysia Government Portals and Websites Assessment (MGPWA) 2011” Seminar at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).

The award giving ceremony was officiated by Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd Sidek bin Hj. Hassan, the Chief Secretary to the Government. He presented 5 Star Portal Certificate to Y. Bhg. Datuk Himmat Singh, Secretary General MoW.

The portal was evaluated as 5 Star Portal through Main Evaluation by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) for the year 2011 with 96 points overall compared to 76 last year, 2010. MoW’s portal ranked 8th place out of 87 portal (43 federal portal and 44 in the state level and 5th place among 25 ministries).

 Beside MoW portal, Contractor Service Centre (PKK) also received 5 Star Portal.

Image removed.Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 29 November – The Ministry of Works (MoW) had its Monthly Assembly for the month of November at Tan Sri Mahfoz Khalid Hall. The event was officiated by Y.Bhg. Datuk Himmat Singh, Secretary General (KSU) of MoW. It is Datuk Himmat Singh’s first official event to meet MoW employees since he was appointed to KSU post on 22 October, 2011.

In the speech, Datuk Himmat Singh recalls back all the achievements that were achieved by MoW throughout the year. One of them is 4 Star Achievement for Accountability Index, 5 Star Portal 2011 and recognition of the Best Online e-perolehan Transaction for the year 2010. Datuk Himmat Singh hope that with the achievements that were achieved before this, it can be a positive momentum for the next year ensuring MoW become a competent and successful organization.    

Those who present to the assembly were Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Dato’ Zaiton Mhad Ali, Deputy Secretary General (Operation) of MoW, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Hj. Mohd Noor bin Yaakob, Director General of Works Department (JKR), Y.Bhg. Dato’ Sir Ir. Dr. Judin Bin Abd Karim, chief Executive of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Hj. Ismail Bin Md Salleh, Director General of Malaysian Highway Authorities (LLM), senior officers from the ministry, agencies and MoW employees.

Image removed.Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 15 November- The First International Seminar on Design and Penang Second Bridge Construction held in Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Y.Bhg. Datuk Himmat Singh, General Secretary of Works Ministry (MoW) represented the Works Minister to officiate the seminar.

Datuk Himmat Singh thanked Malaysian Highway Authorities (LLM), and Second Bridge Sdn. Bhd. who were the organizers for organizing such a meaningful seminar. The seminar was a good platform to share experiences in generating new ideas especially for the improvements of the construction industry in this country.      

There are few achievements were achieved through Penang Second Bridge construction project especially in the aspect of engineering such as usage of bored piled at 130m where it is the deepest in the world. Biggest load test implementation called Statnamic that have been carried out before at 54 Mega Newton level and High Dumping Rubber Bearing or HRDB usage for the first seismic protection in the country were the another achievement that can be included along.

Image removed.Image removed.Seremban, 9 November – Traffic congestion that North South Expressway (NSE) users face at Seremban Toll Plaza finally gets a solution. The construction of New Seremban Tiered Interchange at NSE will solve traffic congestion at Seremban Toll Plaza, said YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor, Works Minister during his visit to New Seremban Tiered Interchange Project Site in Negeri Sembilan.
 According to YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman, Seremban Tiered Interchange will cost RM160 million and will be completed in two years time. The location for the construction has been confirmed at KM 267.5, NSE and will be linked to Jalan Labu (N38).    
 Present with the minister was Datuk Himmat Singh, Secretary General of Works Ministry, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Hj. Ismail Bin Md. Salleh, the Director of Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), Dato’ Noorizah Hj. Abd. Hamid, Managing Director of North South Expressway Project (PLUS), senior officers of the Ministry, LLM and PLUS.

Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 28 October- Ministry of Works (MoW) won third (3rd) place for Ministry’s Annual Book Report in conjunction of National Language Month 2011 at Hall 10, Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
 
The 3rd prize was given to Y.Bhg. Datuk Himmat Singh, MoW’s Secretary General in Circular Submission No. 9 event for the year 2011 entitled ‘Guidelines in Using National Language in Public Service’ on October 28, 2011 by Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Abu Bakar Bin Haji Abdullah, the Director General of Public Service.    

The competition was organized by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) in conjunction of National Language Month. National Language Month is a linguistic program, declared by the government to be implemented by all level of people in a bigger scale in Malaysia.

Image removed.Selangor, 25 October - YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, the Minister of Works visited Semenyih FT 001, Hulu Langat District to survey deepening congestion problem. Development in this area indirectly leads to a serious congestion problem.

The ministry suggests Semenyih FT 001 Road Maintenance Project in Hulu Langat District, Selangor to be implemented in order to prevent congestion problem. The project involves road widening from two way two (2) lanes to two way four lanes for 500m that costs RM1.2 million.   
 
As the project involves only a part of Semenyih FT 001 Road for Two Phase as a long term move, the ministry will continue require the allocations for central agency to upgrade Semenyih FT 001 Road from kajang to Beranang to be implemented for the comfort and road users’ well-being.

Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 21 October – REAM (Road Engineering Association of Malaysia) organized its Grand Dinner 2011, “Safe Roads Save Lives” at Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
REAM is an organisation to represent road engineering alliance in Malaysia and links government and private through safety enhancing activities. A Grand Dinner 2011 was organized recently in order to streghten all parties that related with REAM activities.
YB. Datuk Seri Shaziman Bin Abu Mansor, the Minister of Works Ministry (MoW) officiated REAM’s Grand Dinner 2011. In his speech, the Minister requested concessionairs to be efficient in implementing their services for the development of the nation.  
In the event, REAM allocated a sum for ‘Education Financial Assistance Fund’ for selected students. On the other hand, engineering graduates were awarded with REAM President’s Award to increase motivation within them when they step into working environment in the future.
Present to the event was Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Haji Mohd Noor bin Yaacob, REAM President, Dato’ Ir. Haji Hamizan Bin Mohd Inzan, the Chairman for REAM Grand Dinner, officers from ministry, agency, and private sectors.

Image removed.Kuala Lumpur, 21 October 2011- Y.Bhg. Datuk Thomas George, Secretary General of Works Ministry (MoW) retired from government services on 23rd October 2011. A meeting session with officers and staffs was organized at Tanjung Room, Kompleks Kerja Raya on 21st October 2011.

In the speech, Datuk Thomas George said that he is happy to be a government staff in this country. He also feel satisfied to serve for Malaysians.
