KUALA LUMPUR: The concessionaire of the Cheras-Kajang Expressway, Grand Saga Sdn Bhd yesterday withdrew its application for an injunction to stop the Action Committee on the Bandar Mahkota Cheras Access blocking a toll-free access to the highway.

Lawyer Tharminder Singh, who represented Grand Saga, who represented Grand Saga, told the High Court that his client was withdrawing the application since the matter had become "academic" by virtue of an order by the government for the barrier to be demolished and the access road to be opened.

Judge Datuk Abdul Wahab patail allowed Grand saga's application.

In the application for the injunction, Grand Saga named the chairman of the action committee, Tan Boon Wah, the Kajang Municipal Council and Selangor Local Government, Research and Development Committee chairman Ronnie Liu as defendants.

On May 12, the High Court had dismissed an application by the Bandar Mahkota Cheras residents for an order to stop Grand Saga from rebuilding the barrier at the toll-free access road to the highway, which is at the intersection of Jalan Bandar Mahkota Cheras.

However, on May 30, the cabinet ordered Jalan Bandar Mahkota Cheras access road to the highway to be opened immediately until the disposal of a court case relating to the road between Grand Saga and the developer of Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Narajaya Sdn Bhd.
