KUALA LUMPUR: Works Minister Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed will meet contractors of Works Department (JKR) projects today to discuss the rising costs of building materials.

He said some projects are running at a loss due to the high prices of building materials, and the Ministry wanted to find a way to ease the burden on the contractors.

"We need to find a solution, and decide on the next step to be taken (to overcome the issue)," he said.

When asked about a media report that said suppliers of building materials preferred to export their products to Singapore as it was more profitable, Mohd Zin said he would discuss the issue with the International Trade and Industry Ministry.

On MCA Selangor's suggestion that the Government take over 19 highway concessionaires operating in the Klang Valley to alleviate the people?s burden following the fuel price hike, Mohd Zin said he would comment after receiving the memorandum from the party.
